Oh LS and North will have their day. Believe me, there's probably enough built up rage on both side to warrant a good confrontation. Dan has to be smart about it though. North is holding too many card in his deck at the moment, and Dan needs to balance to scales before he can really approach this. North knows too much about Dan at the present, and Dan needs to dig a little deeper on Norths side to truly know who he's dealing with. The questions remains; who will strike first. Dan probably would love the opportunity to thank North for ruining his life. Although, it was Dan who made the choice to become what he is, as much as he'd like to pin that on North, it's all Dan's doing in the end. North's angle is a little more interesting at this stage. He knows Dan is the LS - he knows where Dan lives - he knows where Dan works...worked. Why doesn't he just arrest him? Why follow him? It's like he doesn't want him to be stopped, just watched. What does North expect is going to be the outcome of just surveillance. Interesting. More interesting - is what would have happened if North continued his follow up with Dan...all the way to Kira's place. That would have been interesting...indeed. I believe this is the one aspect of Dan's life, that North seems to be in the dark on. Probably for the best. We shall see where this goes from here... Wessick was right in saying: Control seems to be the direct motive at the moment, and any lack of that control seems to push North even further to regain it....not like he was so far from the edge to begin with. As for Caleb - if my score card is correct...he owes the LS a good beat down - a branding, and a unique ear piercing to make them square. c-
If you wanna give a little something to us just promise sometime down the line will will see LS try out a new gizmo on north... That is all I ask... that and Caleb get's his butt handed to him but I figure that is a give... I mean LS handed his butt to him twice and each time after word he was in worse shape.
Nice work Raron - Come now...you know me and coincidences ;) There are visual purposes and subtle metaphors for most things I do. Question; is it coincidence the colors of DJ's is similar to PJ attire? Also most the colors in the page are telling their own story. In the original script, we always had Dan going into a bar - it's my job to give a little extra purpose to the page....ok it's really not my job, but I really like to do it...by now you've figured that out. I have some real interesting visual events planed for Issue 4, so hopefully you'll all still be along for the ride to appreciate it - but that's in the future. Let's focus on the now. Most of my locations and buildings are based on references or inspiration of thing I've seen - or places I've been to. I have a crazy mind, but still need a little inspiration for most things. This is based on a bar in Tokyo I believe, as well as having some elements from some bars in Boston. I look for images that have the right feel to work in our world. Then I modify it to fit my needs, and the needs of the comic. Good eye for the extra Raron. I like to do these types of things whenever I can. Just gives the page a little something extra for the comic, and hopefully the reader.
All your bases are belong to us... okay SOMEONE had to get that out of the way before it went downhill and with a complete lack of dignity I nominate me. That said we are done and move on.
Now about the comic did anyone else note the name of the bar? Diamond Jack? Diamond Jack, Pumpkin Jack?
Coincidence? Only Chris could tell us... so seriously was that on purpose?
Also I love the look of the bar, cool looking building. Is this based off a real place?
haha the beauty of self editing comment posting...Nothing wrong with being d-lex, I too hold the title....but either way - that was a pretty bad use of the English language. I shall pay more attention when doing such things....thanks for the correction.
If that's the case Wessick - I believe by now you realize this comic is mentally unstable, and it would be a good recommendation that it doesn't reintroduce it's self into society. (*Landscaper comic picks up heavy drinking fountain, throws it through window, and goes running into the field laughing*) ...oh well, so much for that.
That's an awesome break down of a character Wessick - couldn't have done it better myself. I'm so impressed with all of you - for the extra thought that goes into your read of the comic. Your study of the characters is a true testament to the development of the LS series - and your continued involvement in this world. You have taken these characters 2D from the page, and have literally breathed a new life into them. It's a massive compliment to both myself and all involved with the comic over the years. You pretty much nailed North's persona - based not only by his actions, but how he's handled the different situations put in front of him. There's much we don't know about North - well to be fair...there is much we don't know about all the characters. I mean, we need a few cards up our sleeves. This being said - the main motives of North are starting to show - His reasons behind these motives are still unknown - but we do know, his willingness to proceed by the book....well... doesn't really exist. So what do we know about the man we call North? He likes to create vigilantes, by using their frustration and rage against them - to establish some kind of warped balance in this city known as Karillion. He also seems to have his hand on the criminal side of thing with his odd involvement with Caleb. Play both side to benefit the middle. Problem is...Dan doesn't seem to play by the rules either.. Even though North is manipulating the situation - it's difficult to continue the manipulation, when your puppet keeps taking his hedge clippers and keeps cutting one string at a time. Tyler - and Dean - are in the cross fire of Norths involvement. More like a byproduct than a direct effect. Layers are slowing starting to be chopped away - and with each layer removed...new thing will be revealed. Personally, I believe North thinks he holds all the cards....but in the end...it's the dealer who runs the game.
From what I've seen in the previous pages..it looks like Northie is a little stubby in that particular finger department Raron. If he did keep it...I would believe he would have it encased in plastic on a string hanging from his review mirror, right above his vintage Dirty Harry bobble head doll on his dashboard....or ...a jar on his desk works too ;)
Well, I am a little late to the party it seems, all the good posts have been made :-p. North strikes me as a bit to much of a controling person. He manipulate to get his way, but when they don't go his way, his little world starts to close in around him. Right now, he is trying to regain that control... even if it means going over the line even more. Already some in the force have started to talk, too bad the chief does not make anything of it right now.
Of course, with plans like Norths' there are consequences, and sadly Dean and Ty are one of them. Dean because he was unwilling to wait for Caleb to come back out... and remain quiet. And Ty because he was tired of the abuse that was being done. At least that is how I see it as it stands right now.
Thanks Arretu - I dig this page as well - it is a nice change of pace from the previous. The last couple pages were pretty full on visually - so it this page is a little more like getting a second wind...breath...and strap in for the next ride. I apologize for the creepy depressing vibe of the last page...fortunately, that's what we were going for - so good to see hit the right note. Thanks again for the great feedback.
Indeed Sam. You know North by now - I think he's been pretty ragged since this series began...I just think he did a better job of hiding it before. It does seem North is pretty obsessed with the case - more so Dan's whereabouts. I could just imagine North sitting outside of Karillion's Pet World for an hour waiting for Dan to make up him mind on what carrier would be suitable for both Capo, and the attachment to the bike. I could see North thinking to him self. "Jesus, Daniel. You lead such a riveting life." All the while, not knowing Dan's doing this to shack up with North's sister...haha. It seem they left things on in a pretty interesting place in issue two...what with North try to end Dan by way of fire and brimstone. Although - there may be more to this than expected. Dan doesn't seem to be too concerned about it though - he seems to be a little more preoccupied getting his affairs in order before Kira finished work...and of course the fact it's beer o'clock. I guess in his mind if North wanted to arrest him - he would have done it by now...I mean he's already tried to kill him - so what's the worst that could happen?
Ah Karen - all the stars are aligned for such an event to take place. You know more ideas you put into my head...the more chances just head ideas shall be put onto a page ;) Great to see you liked the contrast as well - I do like switching things up a little - esp when all our eyes needed a little break from harsh lights of Regent Park - and the crimson tones that supported those those harsh lights. I little visual break for the eyes...and little beer....and we're off and running....hopefully we won't get pulled over, as we may be over our limit at this stage.
Me spidey senses are tingling--they say that there just might be a chase with the motorcycle in the far future. i_i
Also: Love the contrast between the previous page (warm colors and darkness) with this one (cool colors and brighter).
