I always thought in issue one, page 6, the pic of LS clicking and whirling his stuff into action, that with some blueprinty stuff in the back ground would make a cool Desktop.

Haha, nice. The mask hides my true form....and for good reason. I have (smile included) provided Sam with such desktops - as requested. Which I will post on the site for all to partake in if they'd like on Thursday - along with pg# 13. I will put them in the Extras section. It's currently at 1280x1024, but if others have different monitor resolutions, just let me know and I will send then to you at size. When I get some time, I would be happy to make up some more backgrounds. If any of you would like a specific visuals for one - basically with images used in the comic thus far - just let me know. c-

Chris provides service with a... um.. smile? I am not sure under the mask but I THINK it is a smile.. either that or he is planning nail bomb suprises.

Holy crap, really? Any Kira of any size would be awesome and any sort of reference to either "Landscaper", the word or the symbol would be amazing. The art (and story) behind this comic amazes me.

Thanks Sam, really glad to hear you liked the page as well. Hmmm... I'm sure I could hook you up with a desktop background - no worries. So you want the image of Kira presented at the top of this page to fill the entire 1280x1024? Then when you say "an awesome LS along the bottom. Do you mean - the LS title logo with the brand - or - an image of the LS like on the home page main graphic? Just let me know, and I'll see what I can do for ya. c-

Thanks Raron, much appreciated. I'm so happy to hear some of the more unconventional things tried on this web comic appeals to our readers. As an artist, I've always been really big into visual metaphors, and creating compositions that support the mood of the page. I didn't realize how much I would be using these visual metaphors with this particular web comic, but I really love when the opportunities present themselves. I kind of just let it take me where it wants to go. Sometimes I start a page with one idea in mind - and then whist drawing, it basically starts to take on a direction of it's own. I really like this organic way to creating these pages. It still holds true to the main feel of the page, but little surprises will develop in the process. I did a little of this in issue 2, but feel this issue has given me more to experiment with - creatively. It's great to see you get the puppet effect - control is truly the overall vibe of this page. That's awesome to hear that this kind of page/style is what hooked you to want to read this comic - that's a great compliment. And thank you again for continuing to read the scaper. It's been an awesome ride for us as well. c-

This page is as awesome as the last one. I would be the happiest boy in the world with a 1280x1024 desktop background of Kira as pictured at the top of this page, maybe with an awesome "Landscaper" along the bottom.

Oh wow... honestly right here... this... I think this is my favorite page so far. Just every part of it draws the eye, how her hair merges with him on the right, like he is some sort of puppet dancing to her tune, how all the darkness links up to her in some way, the dialog, the subtle motion... I love it. This sort of thing is what hooked me on the comic, this style. Once again you have outdone yourself.

Thanks Karen! Yeah - Kira's eyes are probably my fav visual on the page as well. I really wanted to make Kira a strong character. Intelligent, confident and self aware of what it happening around her. She's not your typical companion to a protagonist, but more so a strong force to be reckoned with. I felt having a character on the other side of the moral conflict would be important to show - how a characters environment can alter their perception of a situation. Where as Lydia is reporting what she hears from the comfort of her news desk. She ignorantly offers her own opinion for all Karillion to hear. Where as Kira is in the middle of it all. The blood the tears the pain. She's frustrated at her brother's lack of understanding, and the fact that all his speeches do nothing to create real change to the environment. The Landscaper on the other hand seems to rely on action and resolve. She sees a light now, a way to counteract what surrounds her. The question is: which character on shoulder is she really? UCCWAA :) definitely a possible title for her in the future. Thanks again Karen...great to have you still reading. c-

Thanks Spess, I'm glad you liked the page. I have really enjoyed doing these particular pages, as I've had chance to experiment with some visual concepts. I'm psyched to see that you are picking them up. The idea that the face looming above mirrors the LS brand with torn a way lower half of her jaw could represent the dust mask of the Landscaper. It also could represent the fact that the eyes of a beautiful woman can say so much more than words could ever convey. Especially when speaking to to semi-stable, antisocial vigilante. In short. Dan is lost. After the previous fall out with Brian, Dan is looking for anything to believe in. Kira offers him a second opinion. A view that is not shared with both media and the KPD alike. Kira sees what is really going on. She doesn't see the moral conflict, or ethics in regards to the aggressors, but the reality of it all. She watches these people come into the hospital every night. The injuries sustained on these innocent people - the state they are left in by this group. She does her best to help them...tending to their wounds, and helping them find some peace (however medically induced.) whist they heal. She feels helpless. Also, mentally - how would something like that affect a person. When she had to do for Caleb what she does for their victims, she began to realize that there are no moral or ethical rules here...and she contemplates taking it to the next step. Heading into a darker mental state. However, she is able to make a logical choice and chooses a different path. For what ever reason Dan started this crusade, she doesn't care - the wheels have been set in motion. Also, I think she feels sorry for Dan. Here is a man, who finally stood up against it all, and is now having the hammer dropped on him. She also believes he can be so much more if he can just believe in himself...and who doesn't want that. c-

I really like how the blue eyes are the most noticable things on the page; lovely contrasting. Kira's a very poetic speaker and I can't help but admire how confident she is in the Landscaper (and how quickly she figured him out). Hmm, if she were an opponent, I might nickname her the Blue Eyed Demoness because of how she's egging on our hero. ; ) But because she's our freind, I'll settle for ultra-cool-chick-with-an-attitude.

"Hurt him some more, Dan... maybe I'll finish the job for you..." One of the many little things I like on this page is the central axis - Kira above the hedgeclippers, mouth hidden as if she were wearing a dust mask - the little devil on Dan's shoulder. Him below it: This is how he sees her, right now. It's pretty much text for a single page though (I have to admit, I keep thinking about how they would fit into a )( shape, like the hedgeclippers, though that would break that her-hair-flows-into-his-hair effect in the top right corner...). Also, the last couple of lines. Sounds like she's thought about that for a bit... Curious. So very very curious.
